Julia Fiona Roberts is the daughter of Betty Lou Bredemus, and Walter Grady Roberts. She was born on 28 October 1967 at Atlanta. Julia Fona Roberts is the 4th generation Roberts who reside in Atlanta. Her father had an early interest in the theatre. He was a part of his Emory University campus in 1952 and in other productions in Atlanta. When he joined the Air Force, in 1953 he appeared in an air force production in Biloxi with Betty Lou Bredemus. They got married in the year 1955 and their first child Eric Anthony was born in 1956. Walter along with his wife quit the Air Force in the year 1957, when they enrolled Walter in Tulane University. Walter was hired to work for Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio to work on the set of Bum Bum and His Buddies, which aired in Decatur Georgia. The year 1964 was when Walter along with Betty Lou began production on the local Saturday morning children's television show called Bum Bum and His Buddies which they financed their own. In 1964 Walter and Betty Lou founded The Actors and Writers Workshop. The workshop lasted 6 years. They had two more children. Lelisa Billingsley (1965) (also known by the name Lisa), and Julia Billingsley (1967) (also know by the name Julie).
